Indeed, some older versions of SketchUp export files in *.3ds format but these files are no longer readable by newer 3D software and obviously not by conv3ds.exe. You just drag the *.3ds file above Conv3ds.exe, it will run and create a *.x file bearing the same name. While running, you'll see nothing except the flashing prompt; do nothing but wait [it's generally fast].

I don't understand why you don't have the d3drm.dll file, it's should be provided with Conv3ds.exe.

Copy both files in you designing directory.

You can export easily your model in 3ds format and use the converter (Conv3ds) provided on the VSF website.
You will find it in the section Creating Scenery (the link in Creating Vehicles is broken).

Thank you for posting about this problem. In fact, it happened because the "elements.cfg" file was missing [when defined within the game (design command), this file triggers in VSF and VS NG the rewriting of the "vehicle.cfg" file by adding "user preferences" parameters...

From your first ship go in chase view F2, then move to a certain distance from her and add a new vehicle. That new ship can be moved to another location with the command MOV TP (move to point) within the map window.

For those interested in playing with them, the models are available on my website. The VSF versions offer military cargo to load. The VS NG versions offer more animations to integrate cargo visually.

To enable vectorization, create file elements with design command and in motor element define [control] as vector.
You'll find [thrust angle] variable in vehicle.cfg.
