Ships accelerate/decelerate too fast. FIX?

Post by robguthy »

Hello,

as the title implies im wondering if anyone has found a fix for the acceleration rate of the ships and deceleration. There's no way a 300,000 ton ship will pick up ten knots of speed in under .25 of a mile for example.... (a bit of an exaggeration but point stated). Does anyone know of a way to edit the config or an addon to help with this? Additionally the bow thrusters response is immediate and acceleration of the bow in either direction when in use is extremely fast as well.

Thanks in advance.

One way to reduce VSF acceleration rate is to reduce prop size in properties/elements. But remember, in the real world ships typically accelerate in increments...ie, ahead dead slow...ahead one third...ahead two thirds...ahead standard...ahead full. And when getting underway, they're usually in pilot waters dealing with narrow channels, vessel traffic. Aside from warships in combat, most large vessels never accelerate from stop using full power. To do so is to guarantee an angry chief engineer a quick trip to the pilothouse with a large wrench to beat the @#$%^&* out of the conning officer!
