Intellectual Rights and copyright protection

Postby ilan » Thu Dec 04, 2008 10:04 am

Dear All,

Recently there have been some duscussions about the issue of re using models made
by others and re uploading them under different names.

This is our policy about this issue, these guidelines should be respected by all add-on
makers for benefit of protecting your work:

1. No user is allowed to disassemble, reverse engineer or copy the work done by us or another author, this includes:

a) Use models in the form of x file, made in part of any add-on or the software itself.
b) Decode models in the form of xx files, made inside any add-ons or our software.
c) Re use textures found inside any add-on or inside the software itself.
d) Re use or re sample any of the sound files included inside an add-on or the software itself.
e) Decode, crack, reverse engineer or re use any part of the software itself.

2. Any add-on made, must contain copyright information detailing the origin and copyright permission of the model used.

3. If a model is based upon freely available download, a readme file should be added to it specifying its origin
and copyright permission.

4. Files without copright permission and statement of origin cannot be accepted as add-ons, and cannot be hosted on owr website.

5. Qualilty Simulations is against any form of copyright violation, does not host work based upon unclear origins and
will remove such work from our website should it be determined to be a copyright violation.

6. Any suspected copyright violation should be reported to us directly, please provide refereces to the original and re used file so we can trace the origin and remove the offending file.
Thank you,

Ilan Papini

Hi Ilan

Thank you for posting this statement and making it clear what your/our policies are.

Unfortunately I think we have no power over what is hosted on 3rd party websites so we can only act on addons that are published on these forums and/or hosted on However, we can (as you have done here) make it clear that we do not accept piracy of any kind (except for Virtual Pirates on our Virtual Oceans :)).

I hope the above post will help to restore some faith and once again encourage the developing and releasing of addons.
