Hi Guys and Gals
I have decided to start creating the firth of forth for VS but I am having a bit of a problem getting DEM maps for the area, do you think you can help?

You go to this site ftp://e0srp01u.ecs.nasa.gov/srtm/versio ... 3/Eurasia/ and choose the zip files for 55N03W, 55N04W, 56N03W and 56N04W. Unzip and convert all 4 together in 3DEM. And follow the procedure outlined somewhere here on the forum.

for creating the depth map could I open up the map in a graphics editing program and then just change it to greyscale. Also how would I go about finding out the depth of the Firth of Forth at various points.
One last thing, is the scenery the correct size for use in VS

Well, have you tried ? If so, you would have seen that it does not work that way. Now apart from many posts in the forum you find a "how to" here http://www.hangsim.com/vs/scenery.php . Start and go ahead.
