See relevant comments in above thread re: automatic return fire, and damage modelling.
Working depth charges and air-launched, and surface-launched, torpedoes.

Salvo fire (multiple weapons selected to fire simultaneously at single target).
Ability to elevate weapon while maintaining horizontal viewpoint toward target...like actual naval gunsights.

Salvo fire is possible

Postby ilan » Wed Feb 04, 2009 11:57 am

Dear John,

Salvo fire for guns is possible right now, open the ranger and select the first cannon,
then shoot at something and watch all guns fire at once.

Please eplain also about the missing effects you would like to see, images will help.
Thank you,

Well, I had seen that, and thought it was a glitch. So I guess if multiple weapons have the same designation (like 'cannon'), select one and they all fire? Do they register multiple hits? Obviously, VS weapons will require some reworking/editing to work properly in VSF.

At least the torpedoes no longer explode on contact with the water in 2.8. That's the good news. The bad news is that they just dive to the bottom and explode...at least the unguided ones. You have to put your bow almost against the target to hit it!

Dear John,

I have fixed the torpedos, please check the Mini Sub and try to lock on any other boat using its torpedo ( use the HUD to see the lock on, and use another boat as your target ), it works well, also it is nice to see the torpedo in refraction now, i have also fixed that.

It is possible that you use an older torpedo which may have incompatible paramter with VSF, i will document weapons very soon, just finished documenting the scenery part.

Roger that...fish ran hot, true, and normal. Used both HUD and plain MK 1 eyeball...guided or unguided...score: minisub 1, SS___ 0. Torps worked fine even at ranges of over 1/2 mile. May have to rearm my other sub with the mini's torps!

Dear John,

Good point about targets shooting back when being shot upon, i will add this mode again, similar to VS,
however this will probably work on boats only, as the actual AI needed to shoot
back from planes is radically different and requires tactics and not just weapon aiming.

Suer Elevation is possible in weapon aiming

Postby ilan » Tue Feb 10, 2009 10:20 am

Hi,

I forgot to answer the question about super elevation, you can shoot guided weapons with super
elevation, i.e. shoot above line of sight even if the weapon is locked on the target, this makes
the trajectory of the weapon different.

This morning i have also fixed the rapid sinking of boats, now they sink more slowly and in more random ways.
this will also appear on beta 2.9

Here is an example of super elevation
