Ilan, a small request: the 'wakeb' and 'wakes' graphics are quite faint and don't show up very well. Any chance they could be made brighter/larger so that they'd be more distinct? They're hard to see even from the stern of your own vessel, and almost impossible to see when passing another vessel up close.

Dear All,

Anyone knowing of a scenery with elev_m_minimum < -100 please show me,
it is important sea bottom is applied automatically to scenery that needs one,
and that no special user action is made in importing them.

For example making a change and then copying the map.jpg is not what i
concider ideal, it indicates a problem that should be fixed.

Can you think of some way to identify when a scenery needs to have a bottom
applied and when not, is anyone has a better idea please post it here.
Thank you,

Ilan Papini

Ilan, here is a scenery such as you are asking about. It is made with ETOPO2, as it is too far north for anything else.

Hi John,

I found my error! In the zip file there are 2 that should not be there:
Bute.bin and Bute.hdr

You should only have both bute_c files in your scenery directory!

The Bute map is updated in the zip above.

No, just delete Bute.bin and Bute.hdr from your scenery. Only bute_c.bin and bute_c.hdr should be there.

Hi Ilan,

This one is not to big a download and has a nice bit of coasts and islands in it. For your purpose you probably only need the .bin and .hdr.

The .jpg's I created using an alternative scenery seeing as that the map/topo created by VSF didn't create the same sort of map that VS produces (simple.bmp)..... I turned creative because:
?? How would you ever know when negative height means water and not land? There are loads of places in the world where the height is negative yet there is not a drop of water in sight?

I'm having a look at the Dead Sea are as we speak. I plan to use the matrix editor to turn the negatives to water for the map (height = 0), I'm sailing gloriously in VSF, the only problem is the map, it shows land, not water.

In case you are wondering how I get the depth onto the STRM data? I use the Etopo2 for depth and merge that data into the STRM data. Of course the Etopo2 is low resolution, Gooogling for area specific bathymetric data might get you a much better resolution. Like I've done that for the Chesapeake bay and other US estuaries, you can get very good data for free.

Ron,
I have been attempting to merge etopo and srtm using Global Mapper, I have found that I can adjust elevations in each file using Control Centre, but am having no luck with producing an acceptable merged file. Can you shed some light on your procedure?

Bob.

Hi all, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but....

BUGS:

1) Helicopters still sit tail heavy when rotor is at 0%. Place the Jet Ranger on the building top in Italy there you can see it best.

2) While on the top of the building look ate the helicopter form the outside and pan the camera see how the shadow disappears at some angles that it should remain.

3) Rotor wings bug is still on.

4) Navaids are not saved after restart.

Hi Bob, sure,

I think I'll create a topic for that in the scenery section VSF, here?

Let me get my "stuff" together first, okay? There is a particular sequence you have to follow. I need to create the screenies for that first, the text around those (screenies) I know......
