Boolean problem (SOLVED)

Postby saken » Fri Feb 17, 2017 11:45 am

Dear community,

I have been, since a few days back been stuck in Blender, trying to get a certain boolean to cut through the front railing with a cube object. It works flawlessly when I apply all the modifiers to the hull, but that's not what I want. I need the mirror, subdivision and the edge split modifiers to remain unchanged and not applied.

Anyway, to get to the point. This is what I want, seen below:

Although Everything seems to look okay in the picture above, all the modifiers have been applied. Making the model permanent when it comes to the subdivision, mirroring and edge "splitting". In other words, this is not what I want.

In the picture below, this is what I get when I apply only the boolean modifier:

Although I don't expect anybody here to know the "ultimate solution", maybe in other 3D programs there's a similar way to solve such a problem like the one shown above.
