Axe: I think I'll make a mini tutorial someday about mapping, but it's not difficult but very time consumming and that riveted plates mapping has been quite a work. (Would look great on your nice FERRIS I think).

Dom.

While it might arguably look nice on Ferris, it would be an historical anomaly. Ferris and her sisters were all wood; their sad rotten remains still lie awash in Mallows Bay on the lower Potomac River...where I have seen them. A similar design was also built in ferrocement during WWI; a surviving hulk of one still lies just off Cape May, NJ...which I've also seen.

Thanks for that precision SJ, I didn't know FERRIS had an all wooden hull.
That said, iron/stell plates or wood planks, a right mapping would look nice on her hull, especially at the stern.

Not much to see under water at the moment Benny, I still have to add propellers and details to the rudder:

Very very nice, Dom! :) It's making me want to build a large steamer like this myself!

She is looking grand. It will be brilliant to see her complete in all her glory. You should Nemo, we need more older vessels for this game I think. I am working on one at the moment, I am also considering doing the SS Great Britain.

It's tempting, since VS/VSF does need more older vessels, but all the ones I've wanted to build, I can't find any plans for. It's a shame, since I've found some real beauties. Maybe I'll redo some of the City of Adelaide, but I'm not sure yet.
