Version 1.5 is available new vehicles can be created

Postby ilan » Sun Aug 30, 2009 2:48 pm

Dear All,

Version 1.5 is now available, the major improvement in it is the option to create
new vehicles using standard components, and also the simplicity of playing
with vehicle components and seeing their effect.

To create a new vehicle all you have to do now, is open the vehicle dialog
without any vehicle selected, press "Design" tab.

This will open the first design dialog, here you can select the type of vehicle
you wish to create and also the body for this vehicle.

Then add the components you wish to add, and move them where
you want them to be, you can even move them in flight and see their
effect, for example adding mass, adding engine, moving wings and tails.

Then save your vehicle, this will take a snapshot of the vehicle shape.
I have added 12 samples, showing interesting vehicles than can be made
using this method, the vehicles are themselves very interesting and
exploring them can be a lot of fun and very educational.

Version 1.5 makes Vehicle Simulator an exellent design tool and learning tool
of the first degree.

Enjoy !
Thank you,

Ilan Papini

Hope I'm not stealing Ilan's thunder here...but VSF 1.6 is out, and it includes Docking (at last!), and Scripting...with examples and tutorial at the VSF homesite whereby ai vehicles can be programmed to run certain scripted patterns and engage/disengage enemy combatants, using common English commands.
Someone's been busy!!!

That is a great idea instead of plying one against the other in an on-line session we could play against a scripted auto pilot.

So, at last we can lay alongside a docking point, and moor, sort of.

Not very realistic, is it?

Can we adjust the mooring points, both on the watercraft and on the docking station, and surely only one side ropes would be employed.
I'm deliberatly not mentioning the yuk yellow!

OK, I find that by re-centering the xyz axis of the boat, the mooring lines are evenly spaced about the centreline, but this has an adverse effect on the steering of the craft, not to mention the re-working of instrument positions and such like. I still don't feel that it is realistic.

I agree Bob, we should be able to change the docking points form the CFG file or form the elements and they should not interfere with the boat's handling or hydrodynamics. I looked at other boats and the situation there is the same as it is with your boat. And the ugly yellow has to go no question about it.

I'm repeating myself... But it would be really nice to be able to use two textures 1. for the docking lines 'rope', and another for the anchor CHAIN texture.

Since Ilan hasn't posted here yet...
Heads up, gang! VSF 1.8 was released today...a lot of changes...multiple engine control, 128 max instruments, effects on instruments, custom rope tex, nighttime shaders, opening doors and canopies, ammo limits, new weapon parameters including 'at rest' default angles...and tons more. A lot of new toys to play with for the new year/decade! Thanks, Ilan.
