Prop Splash problem on sail boats using engine sounds

Postby calypso » Thu Jun 28, 2012 10:46 pm

On boats like Axe's L'Aurore, engines sounds are used to provide realistic rigging sounds and creaking planking.

With the new Prop Splash effect, switching on the engine to hear these very atmospheric sounds result in a big prop splash on a boat that does not have an engine!

Some way of disabling prop splash would be appreciated.

I mentioned this to Ilan as well, the prop wash is there regardless if there is a prop or not, he has not linked it to the placement of the prop. On my icebreaker there are two stern wakes even if the 2nd prop is in the bow. Same with a double-ended ferry I built. But hopefully there will be parameters to place the wash as desired. Then you can move it inside the L'Aurore.

Thank you Jonatan. I am starting to think that the program is heading towards unnecessary complexity, basically because it is trying to do too much.

I went back to 2.4.1 and it works very well for my limited demands (sailing).

If the updates continue to screw up the basics, I can see myself sticking with an earlier version.

Pity.

Interesting. My engine.wav of l'Aurore is not producing any sound. I have anchor.wav and horn.wav which are fine but engine is mute.

I have the expansion pack. Any idea how to change this?

Cheers

Hi Hans. I have emailed you a working engine.wav for L'Aurore.

The original file had a problem.

Remember to run the engine at full throttle and turn up your engine sounds.

Hope it works.

It works! I'd call it a must have for L'Aurore bringing a substantial further amount of realism to this fine model.

Thank you, John.

Thank you for the bow splash fix, Ilan. Works well now and in the correct position.
