Real Weather.

Postby Bromstarzan » Mon Oct 25, 2010 1:55 am

What about implementing real time weather info - there are several free met data servers up and running that for example FSX uses.
Would of course require some network coding, but Im just curious for future plans. Is it something that has been considered on the dev side?

cheers,
/Broms

Since we are always in a relatively limited area, for me its good enough to set the weather according to met data like http://www.buoyweather.com/index2.jsp or others.
Cheers, Reino.

I think it is very difficult to replace the existing random weather by a grib file "NOAA GFS standard" (real-time weather 3 hours free) around the world, even in the middle of the ocean.

I also vote for real time weather even if there is a 3 hour delay :) This is another feature that will add quality on the game ;)

Also it is important to be adjusted the attitude of the waves and i mean that sea must be calm inside a port and not the same as outside :geek:

This is a very good suggestion.

combined with a wind-dependent wave height, it would bring VSF on the current state of technology, together with physics>X-based water vsf would be fit for the future. but that will probably remain a dream.

The area inside a harbor could be defined by a bounding box in the object editor called wave_exclusion for example...

This could go. Another suggestion is the existing option wind shadow and as mentioned the wind depend wave high. If this responded well to objects and terrain it could be a good and realistic solution.

Hello Ilan

I repeat my suggestion, real-time weather. (By a grib file "NOAA GFS standard" real-time weather 3 hours free).

Thanks
