So, here it goes:
Weather:
Scenery dependent weather (wind and waves shadow from land, morning - evening shore and sea wind);
Automatic, moon-dependent tides and tide currents;
Temperature, moisture, humidity simulation with respectful effects for sailing and boat dynamics;
Weather forecast with adjustable frequency of change (right now, in open sea, conditions can change few times a day, so almost every day we have storm and calm, while in real world, in sea, winds usually don't change for weeks, and gales can last many days, sometimes even months, so as with calm weather)
World-scenery dependent weather (trade winds, currents (like Golf current)), or, as a substitute, a real world weather to be downloaded via net;
More sailboat rigging control:
independent sail control for multi-sail sailboats;
adjustment of sail shape, like foot, luff, leech tension, backstay adjustment, and so on. If dynamic rope system would be implemented, it would give much much freedom for add-on developers to create boats with custom rigging systems;
disable this "auto sheet in" when tacking, which is now present in VSF, although it wasn't in VS;
Square-rig sail dynamics;
Realistic sail dynamics, like in Sail Simulator 5, where sails are truly dynamic, they can luff on different parts, luffing can be greater or smaller, when changing sail shape (for example, tensioning the foot), sail truly flattens, it is not scripted.
Custom reefing: like in real world, some booms can furl in the mainsail, allowing custom reefing, and some ships can only reef in parts, like 3/4, 1/2 or 1/3 of sail, depending on where reef lines are sewed on sail.
Other:
Sextant (I posted a wishlist topic already on it, can't emphasize it enough);
Disable "auto sail" on when loading scenario, even if it was saved with auto sail off;
Map with ability to disable user position to allow dead-reckoning and sextant practice without using external mapping programs;
Custom ship control systems, like in Sail Simulator 5 (take a look, it is hard to explain), which allow any ship to have custom control systems in every ship: for example, one ship may have mainsheet, jibsheet, halyards, motor and rudder, while other boat may have only oars and rudder; other may have no rudder, but only halyard to raise sail (kind of raft), and other may have 10 different engines, 2 independent rudders, bay doors, electrical systems and so on (big modern tanker). Such system is better than current "universal" system, where small ships have controls or instruments left over from bigger ships (GPS, echosounder), and bigger ships are limited by small ship systems (tall ships have only two sails controls - main and jib - to control dozens of different sails, like a small yacht). If custom control systems would be implemented, it would open unlimited possibilities. Take a look at Sail Simulator 5 to see what I'm talking about.
I realize much of these features were requested already, but I'm posting this because I would like to (and I think some other people here) receive an answer - will these features be implemented, and when? If anyone could answer specifically ("this and this feature will be implemented on this and that date", "this feature will be implemented with no known date", "this won't be implemented") then we, humble users, would know better what to expect, and what not to.
Please comment.
