Two horn features that I would like to see implemented

Postby kirelire » Wed Sep 16, 2015 7:51 pm

Hi.

As I am very much interested in steamships I would really like to see two new horn features implemented.

- Two horn sound files, for example one long and one short.
- Alternative "Horn Smoke" when you press Shift-H. Example: https://video-bru2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hvide ... e=55F9D5DD

Thank you.

Actually, VSF already provides horn/whistle smoke...simply create the smoke parameters (xyzrgbs) and add "1 [is_horn]", et voila! Typically your rgb values should be near mid-200s to replicate steam.

As for long and short blasts, why not simply use an extended horn.wav. It will sound as long as you have CTL + H pressed...so you have finger control of horn duration.

Thank you for the quick responses.

I did not know that VSF supports horn/whistle smoke, I will try it out! This game keeps surprising me!
Regarding the sound. I do not like it "cutting" when you stop pressing the key. I did however really like Chris idea with replacing change.wav but I have recently used PgUp/PgDn for another idea I had. Are there any other sound files that you could replace?

When you say "add 1 [is_ horn]", do you mean add it to the vehicle cfg file or press q and add it?

Add it to the "smoke" text file.
