[quote=" By the way, was born in the city of Ceuta, whose flag has the emblem of Portugal :)[/quote]
P.S. i Think you already know better then i all this but for people who don't know that's is the answer for the Portuguese flag in Ceuta Territory...
n 1415, during the Battle of Ceuta, the city was captured by the Portuguese during the reign of John I of Portugal. The Moroccan Sultan besieged the city in 1418 but was defeated. The King of Spain, Phillip II, seized the Portuguese throne in 1580 and held it for 60 years (Iberian Union). During this time Ceuta gained many residents of Spanish origin.[5] Thus Ceuta became the only city of the Portuguese Empire that sided with Spain when Portugal regained its independence in 1640 and war broke out between the two countries. :D

This is truly awesome Work jafergon!!!!

Now we just need LOD, so it would be possible to build the environments more detailed with streets and real buildings. Yes, this needs much more Time, but with your work we have a perfect basic till such addons are avaible.
I also like the work with your static Ships and autogen Traffic, very Impressive.

Regards

You are exactly right Thor! We need LODs for scenery objects. I would have included more detailed docks, cranes, containers... but this would kill performance. If LODS are implemented someday I'll replace the harbor objects with more detailed versions and add higher bulding density.

P.S. Arraial, I know :) Ceuta has always kept strong ties with Portugal. btw, I recall from my chidhood frequent visits of the Portuguese cruise ship "Funchal" to Ceuta.

Great videos!  Now I'm really looking forward to your first scenery (not only to drive/fly/sail it, but to tear it apart and see how it ticks! ;)

You mentioned that you had some missing gaps for a railroad KML file.  I'll have to dig up the link when I'm back home (I'm working right now :), but I had a site that had great geo files for utilities (such as railroads) for a number of countries.  I was able to get all the rail lines imported for southern Bavaria/Austria (too bad there aren't tunnels in VSF as some tracks end up going up-and-over hills and mountains).  If you wish, I can dig up the site, and if its different data set then what you were working with, I'd be happy to develop the kml file for you.  Also, if there's further assistance you need, I'd be willing to help (time allowed of course!).

You also mentioned about the issue of robots following roads.  I asked Ilan if he would add a command to the robo script to allow robot movement to geo coordinates (instead of basing it off of point of origin).  My idea was that lat/lon could be entered for robots using the same abs geo coords as the roads in VSF as a starting point.  Better accuracy might be with a calculated offset lat/lon value for the robot to stay in a designated lane, and then sending the robot off matching the same radian (heading) as the road is facing.  I was also thinking of logging lat/lon by moving to each road end (for major roads) for mapping coords.  In the end, I'm not completely sure how well this would work.  Thoughts?

My source of GIS data is http://data.geocomm.com/catalog/. When I convert it using the kml import tool I get these gaps, moreover, as you can notice the rails are placed partially under the terrain level.

Sorry Deutschmark, I forgot to answer your question... I'd say about 90% of the airports I have included have traffic. But I think AI planes won't be an obstacle to use any of them, the take-off/landings interval allows you to use them normally. However, since it is not real AI and there is not ATC you must take a look around the runway before landing.

hI jafergon this path of the train track is correct don't have gaps to me the only problem is the main track sections don't have the required track bend value to link ones to others correctly. i hope helps in some way.

Jafergon

I use the same geo data site as you. I don't get these gaps (at least, not with the data sets I've used from this site). The end of my sections all meet at the starting point of the next section. If I get a moment this weekend I'll try to replicate for Spain and see if I get the same results as you.

Aside, I'm considering creating an Excel worksheet to calculate the proper vector angle of the road/rail if you wish to add a d angle to the section. (If you add the d angle without changing the vector, the road end won't match up to the next section.) TIme to break out the geometry equations.

Jafergon

I just checked the Spain data set for railroads, and I got the same results as you - gaps. :(

Here's an example of the Austrian rail data pulled from the Geo Community site for my Innsbruck scenery:

Image

As you can see, all of the road/rail data is fairly precise with the road/rail ends tying very close with the start of the next sections. I've found the same accuracy for other areas that I've worked on (i.e. continental US and Puerto Rico). I suppose its hit or miss for getting good data.
