Long Highway Design

Postby c-pod » Sun Jun 17, 2012 12:10 am

Hi there I was trying to make a long highway using the object design tool in vsf aprox (200 miles) I saved all the objects and a soon as I closed vsf, and opened it up, the roads were gone. I could look at the map and click the object check box and see red where I set the highway up but a side from that nothing. I have made smaller 20-30 mile roads and they were fine but this one wouldn't work. This is really frustrating and I'd love for some assistance.
Thanks

I Would lay it out and when I was done I would go to file under the object tab and click save objects to file I believe and then it would say objects saved to .txt. I would open the program and I'd see in that map the program recognized the objects were there but it wouldn't appear. This is a picture of whats happening the road in the picture is about thirty miles long, the other one is 250-300. When I click show objects you see the road lines but not the actual road in the scenery thanks for the help!

You need to save each section of the road by it self or if you put in a long stretch of road I would highlight them and save them as a absolute file. When I put roads in I put in one section at a time and save them one at a time I do put in say a bunch of roads say when laying out a town or and area with buildings but when I do that I save them as an absolute file. roads in vsf are one of the hardiest things to work with to make sure they are staying put the best way is to save each section by itself then when your done with populating an area with your roads and such make an absolute file to be sure they show up next time. One thing I will mention is if you want the roads to show at nite then make sure you label them like in the commons folder but if you want them to stay dark at nite make sure to name them example dark_road_a.jpg. If you keep having problems I can get with you on team speak to help you out just let me know.
