Just to let everyone know, I'm not dead ;), I'm working hard on this WIP, starting tonight again... as it is half an hour after midnight here now... but I just started working on this WIP again, so in case anyone wonders, it's NOT dead.

BAD NEWS:

My flash drive which I had all my modeling work on, was wiped clean by mistake by me, so I will start over, but no panic, my previous model was damaged beyond repair anyway, at the bow...

I will be a lot more careful in the future before I format any drive ...

Re: Seawise Giant (PUT ON HOLD INDEFINETLY)

Dear community,

You might have noticed that I put this WIP on hold. Mainly because of the ships size, and also because I shifted to a new 3D package: Rhinoceros 3D.

So, if you all wonder, I will indeed continue on this WIP. I have just put it on hold, for a undecided future ;)

Safe Sailing!

... and back to 3ds Max again. I noticed that I feel more "home" in 3ds Max, and it's easier when you know where every little button and knob is ;). Been using 3ds Max since 2006, got 6 years of 3ds Max on my belt. Anyway... been working on this hull since yesterday, and it came out quite good. A whole lot better than the first hull I made in Max :D! I made the render 640x480, just to not make it too big.

Second render, totally, this is WIP Image 2. Have set the display units to feet, as Vehicle Simulator scales down models to fit meters. So, I basically use feet in 3ds Max. That way, it's easier to work ;)

Anyway, I'm mostly finished with the bow, butI will take another look at the stern. I will shape the bow and stern as close to the reference images as I just possibly can. As I'm very picky, I want my model to be absolutely perfect, even though I've only used 3ds Max for 6 years, and Maya for 4-5 years.
